Weather forecast: Snow changes to sleet this afternoon, could return to snow later

The initial threats of severe weather for today have diminished.On Christmas Day meteorologists predicted heavy rains that could produce strong winds hitting the Augusta area today as a cold front moved through the region.

Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is possible, with an additional 1 to 3 inches overnight.
